Do You Believe In Miracles?

Do you believe in miracles?  Real, modern day miracles?

We had one happen in our lives last year at Christmas time.

Preparations for Christmas is fun …gathering presents and making little surprises for our loved ones.  At the end of last November, I was still finishing up the gift gathering when I came across a drone that had high ratings and positive possibilities for being a first drone for someone – that someone would be our son.  He had indicated he wanted one and this particular one was very affordable.

Fast forward to Christmas Day…  I was excited to see our son open that present.  His eyes lit up and opened wide when he realized what the box held.  After reading the “how to” page along with some trial and error, our son had the drone flying… up and down, over and around.  It was really neat to see what they could do together.

That evening, after a very enjoyable day with our family, our son took the drone for one more spin.  As the battery got low and as the wind around him picked up, the drone flew right over our home and settled nicely on the very top of our large maple tree.  It sat there just as if it had been parked there on purpose.  Oh the stressful excitement that ensued then!  The realization that the drone was 60+ feet up brought many tears and unbelief that we would ever retrieve it.  Even though it was just a toy, it had brought joy to our son and then heartache.  My heart ached right along with him.  Our whole family hurt with him.

So began all the ideas of how we would retrieve that little drone.  Our day of joy became a mission of recovery.  Because of how everything is positioned, recovery was hindered… Under that large maple tree sits our home, garage and deck.  Our neighbors’ homes sit fairly close.  The mission seemed impossible as we worked and worked on it for 2 hours!  Everything we did was futile.  Disappointment and weariness settled in and we finally said “good night” to each other and went to bed.

It was early morning when I heard my husband out there continuing the recovery mission.  Much to his dismay, everything he thought of during the night and tried that morning didn’t work.  He felt defeated once again after hoping to surprise our boy with a rescued drone.

I sat on the couch that morning, praying and watching out our picture window.  I saw the evergreen tree at the end of the cul-de-sac swaying and my heart poured out to God to love on my little boy by bringing that wind that was moving the evergreen down to us… for God to pick up that drone and place it upright on our deck.  That by setting it there, we would know without a doubt that our Lord was the One who recovered it and that in doing that we would know His power, His love, and His concern for even the little things in our lives.  As I prayed, I watched the wind come down that street and I watched the trees in it’s path sway.

About that time our son got up and came out of his bedroom with the question on his lips “Is it down?”  Seeing his dad shake his head, our son decided to play on the computer rather than go outside… but he instead, changed his mind, put on his shoes and went out.

It was almost unbelievable when our son came in a couple minutes later with his drone in hand!  He found it setting upright, on the deck, just like I had asked during prayer!

It is so exciting to see Jesus work!

Don’t ever doubt it.  Jesus cares for you – about all the aspects of your life!

Ephesians 3:20-21    Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
